When the Vendors Tell the Story - A BTS Look at a Fall Stylized Wedding Shoot in Oregon
Some projects stay with you long after the last photo is edited and the tables are cleared. This was one of those.
This fall, we gathered at Mt. Hood Organic Farms for a stylized shoot that felt less like a production and more like a shared love letter to the place, the people, and the years of stories held within its walls. What eventually became a feature on 100 Layer Cake actually began much more quietly. A conversation. A shared vision. A deep respect for the land and for the legacy that already existed before we arrived.
At its heart, this shoot was designed around the venue owners’ vision and brought to life through genuine collaboration. Every choice was intentional, and every vendor involved showed up with care, curiosity, and a willingness to build something meaningful together. It truly felt like a labor of love from start to finish.
What started years ago as Jen’s love of storytelling through imagery has naturally grown into something bigger. This shoot felt like a reflection of that evolution. A tribute to creative partnership between photographer and planner, venue and artist, nature and design. It was about honoring legacy while allowing room for artistry to unfold in an organic way, right here in Oregon’s landscape.
The setting could not have been more perfect. The Apple House is hand-built and designed by historic architecture preservationist turned orchardist John Jacobson, with clear influence from Scandinavian and Eastern European design. There is a quiet strength to the space. It invites you to slow down and notice the details. The grain of the wood. The way the light moves through the windows. The intimacy created by craftsmanship that was never rushed.
While the mountain views are undeniably stunning, this editorial intentionally focused inward. On texture. On form. On the romance found within the Apple House and its courtyard. Draped silk, orchard elements, and gathered garden florals came together to symbolize renewal. The way creative partnerships, like personal relationships, deepen and refine over time.
The collaboration between Mt Hood Organic Farms, Mountain View Floral, and Jen Jones Weddings felt especially full circle. What once began as Jen Jones Weddings organically grew into Gorge Wedding Coordination, where Jen now leads an in-house team offering full-service coordination, creative direction, and design exclusively at Mt. Hood Organic Farms. This shoot felt like a visual expression of that growth. A seamless extension of the venue’s legacy, uniting logistics and luxury under one shared creative vision.
None of this would exist without Brady and Hannah Jacobson, the mother-daughter team behind Mt. Hood Organic Farms. Their vision continues to shape everything that happens on the property. Rooted in 44 years of farming and 22 years of celebrating weddings, their refined taste is grounded in lush gardens, timeless European-inspired architecture, and a deep love of place. This editorial was created in honor of both the heritage and evolution they have stewarded so thoughtfully.
Seeing this shoot featured on 100 Layer Cake is incredibly meaningful, and we are so grateful for that recognition. If you’d like to view the published feature, you can find it here. But truthfully, the heart of this project lives in the moments behind the scenes. The shared laughter. The quiet problem solving. The collective pride when everything finally came together.
This one was special. And we are endlessly thankful to every vendor who helped tell this story with us.
